1 season / 3 episodes
The true story of ’70s British politician John Stonehouse who faked his own death to escape prosecution for fraud is compelling enough on its own merit, but, with the brilliant Matthew Macfadyen of Succession fame in the lead role as Stonehouse, the series is absolutely magnificent. Macfadyen is one of the best actors around who can mine melancholy and comedy from the same moment, and he excels here, magnifying the nerdy while playing into every bit of the absurdity and idiocy of this character. This short, three-episode series is worth a subscription to BritBox just to see this performance.
